Abstract:

The coronavirus pandemic brought forth many instances of rampant state-sponsored violence, under the guise of law, that otherwise would not have surfaced. This article uses these incidences, to highlight the inherent deficiencies of the police force, that has been aggravated by the scourge of the virus. The article attempts to analyze the sudden lockdown orders, legal sanctions brought about to control the pandemic, the laws governing the police force, judicial directives and the possibility of colonial shadow. The possibility, that the laws that continue to govern our police force were drafted for a purpose entirely different.
