Attempt to Suicide refers to the act of a person trying to end his or her life voluntarily. Attempt to Suicide has been defined under “Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code in India”. The legality and nature of the matter remains highly debatable due to various factors and other legal aspects in our Indian Constitution. Our Indian Constitution states under the “Article 21 of the Indian Constitution” that everybody has the Right to Life, but “ According to the facts mentioned in Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code, it violates Article 21 and Article 14 of the Indian Constitution. In one of the leading judgements of the Apex Court, it had been stated that the Right to Life under Article 21 includes Right to Die, but still Section 309 remains to be efficiently valid under the Indian Penal Code. These facts straightaway signifies that the legal framework with reference to Attempt to Suicide needs to be amended.
