Abstract:

Marijuana has been utilized by humans from the prehistoric era and is intertwined with the chronology of the most past cultures believed to have flourished. It is associated with religious rites and customs in India that trace back to a time when divinities reigned supreme. After the implementation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, which made the trade and marijuana possession illegal across India, legalization has remained a contentious issue. Despite the fact that it is used in medicine, no positive action has been done. Following the recent occurrences wherein two US states chose to authorize recreational cannabis use, a tsunami of liberal ideas has swept the country.
